With Only 10% of His Record Accessible to the Public, Brett Kavanaugh’s Hearing Should be Delayed

The Senate Judiciary Committee should not consider Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination this week. Senators only have access to 10% of his record.

Documents being withheld during his time in the Bush White House likely relate to his views on marriage equality, and other important LGBT civil rights issues. His appointment is for life. We must see his record. This process has not been transparent or fair.

What we do know so far about Judge Kavanaugh’s troubling record show that he lacks a commitment to the landmark Romer, Lawrence, Windsor, and Obergefell precedents — the core of Justice Kennedy’s LGBT rights legacy.

Judge Kavanaugh’s views pose a real threat to our nation’s core principles of equality and freedom for all. LeGaL strongly opposes this nomination.
