The National LGBT Bar Association today named LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York (LeGaL) Board President Gennaro Savastano to its annual list of Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40.

Each year, the National LGBT Bar recognizes LGBT legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and have demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBT equality.

Meredith Miller, Immediate Past President, LeGaL:

Gennaro’s accomplishments reflect his thoughtfulness, authenticity, empathy and deep commitment to LGBTQ equality. He takes on a great deal of responsibility for LeGaL because he is committed to its mission. I am so grateful for his professional generosity and friendship, as well as his leadership of LeGaL.

Eric Lesh, Executive Director, LeGaL

This is a fabulous and much-deserved honor for Gennaro who is known to be a fierce advocate for LGBTQ New Yorkers. Gennaro has dedicated himself to promoting justice in and through the legal profession. It is a thrill and an honor to work side-by-side with him at LeGaL.

Matthew Skinner, Executive Director, The Richard C. Failla LGBTQ Commission of the New York State Courts, and former LeGaL Executive Director:

“I am glad that Gennaro’s tireless dedication to the local LGBTQ legal community has not gone unnoticed. He has brought The LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York to new heights. I am proud to call him my friend.”

Mr. Savastano began his service as LeGaL’s President in January of 2017. Prior to being elected President, Savastano served on LeGaL’s Foundation Board and as Vice Chair of our Judiciary Committee.

Mr. Savastano is also an associate in the Appellate/Legal Unit at the nationally rated law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C., where he handles asbestos litigation for cancer and mesothelioma victims and seeks justice for working families injured by defective drugs and medical devices, toxic environmental pollution, and other personal injuries.

Mr. Savasanto and the other honorees will be recognized at the 2018 Lavender Law Conference in New York City this August.
