We’re so excited! The LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York (LeGaL) is turning 40! To celebrate, the LeGaL Foundation is pleased to announce that its 2018 Community Vision Awards will be presented at LeGaL’s Annual Dinner on March 15 to the 83rd Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch, the first openly gay judge on the New York Court of Appeals, Hon. Paul G. Feinman, and Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) executive director, Jillian T. Weiss.

LeGaL’s Community Vision Awards are presented annually to honor individuals with a distinguished record of service to the LGBT community, including a sustained commitment to achieving equal rights for all.

We are proud to present this year’s Community Vision Awards to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Judge Paul Feinman, and Jillian Weissthree champions of the legal community who have made history, and forever improved the lives of LGBT people.

Under Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch’s leadership, the Justice Department sued North Carolina over its discriminatory anti-LGBT “H.B. 2” law, which blocked municipalities from enacting LGBT non-discrimination ordinances and banned transgender people from using the restroom in schools and government buildings consistent with their gender identity.

Judge Paul G. Feinman is the trailblazing former President of LeGaL, who in 2017, became the first openly gay person to serve on the New York Court of Appeals.

Jillian T. Weiss serves as TLDEF’s Executive Director, where she leads the organization’s work to end discrimination and achieve equality for transgender people, particularly those in our most vulnerable communities.

In this challenging time for our country, we derive strength from the lawyers, judges and advocates who work tirelessly to uphold the guarantees of liberty and equality for all.

LeGaL’s Annual Dinner will be held in New York City at Capitale on Thursday, March 15, 2018. For more information on the event, including sponsorship and ticket information, please visit our website at le-gal.org or e-mail info@le-gal.org.
